The New Year is just knocking at the door. It is the time to forget the bad memories of the past year and reflect on changes you want to see in your life this coming year. Yup, I know most for most people new year resolutions areĀ just a craze which fades away way too soon. But lets not talk negative but THINK POSITIVE. Its time for New Year Resolution for 2010. Even if a single person gets inspired by my post and gets benefited, I will feel I did something for the community.
Write a certain number of posts in a fixed time
Make sure you set yourself a goal to write a certain number of posts in a specified time. It can be 1 post a day, 2 posts weekly or anything. That does not matter unless you do something extreme like 10 posts daily or 1 post in 2 months. Just stick to it and don’t be lazy. Fresh content does wonders even if you do little to moderate promotion.
Make good use of time
Learn time management. Create a routine and follow it. Routines have been shown to increase productivity by leaps and bounds (well, only given that you actually follow it). There is nothing worse than having time on your side but not having a clear vision of what to do.
Spend less time on social networks
We all know they are cool but its a very bad way to use your time. Stop spending hours in Facebook, Myspace or Orkut doing nothing and do something useful. At least, take some rest but say no to excessive social networking.
Read less, Do MORE
A big problem of beginners. They tend to read everything there is to read scattered in the forums, sites, blogs etc. But how much of it is actually implemented in work. Let me tell you, very little. So, put your knowledge into work and stop wating time in 2010.
Interact with other bloggers
Blogging is a community stuff. So, stop being a loner and interact with other bloggers in your niche. Make good comments on their posts, offer guest posts etc. Don’t hesitate to link to them by doing a post if you find something that would benefit your readers.
Also, don’t forget your readers. Respond to their queries and ask them questions. This would help in building a relationship with them. Just like this, got it?
Build certain number of links per day
I know link building can be very boring but it is very essential as you surely know. So, make an commitment to build a certain number of links per day. Don’t give loose. Stick to your plan. Create a strategy by breaking up into simple tasks. Eg- Monday- Yahoo Answers, Tuesday- Blog comments, Wednesday- Article submission …….
Get a custom theme
This one is not really that important but as you start to grow and wish to have a brand image, you may start saving money for a custom theme. It adds a spark to your venture. So, if you wish get a new logo and a new theme in this new year 2010, go for it. It cannot harm, just makes you look more professional.
Keep the plugins and core updated
Security is a major issue these days. So, always keep the core of your platform updated to the latest version. Also, always update your plugins regularly as most of the security holes in WordPress are through the plugins. Hopefully, you already take regular backups in case everything else fails.
Give rest to EYES
Don’t blow up your eyes in your venture to become super successful internet marketer. Give them enough rest so that you can see in your later life. Take breaks after every 30 mins or so and stare at something far away. Do regular eye exercises for 5 mins. Not too hard, is it? If you are not concerned about it, ask any person with thick lenses and he will tell.
Take it seriously
This is not a game you can reset and begin again. It has no save function so that you can leave and come back to find it intact. Promise yourself this new year, to treat this as a business if you want to make something out of it.
